Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green keeps his ear to the ground when it comes to the NBA, and he has some thoughts on the Washington Wizards recently acquiring forward Anthony Davis and guard Trae Young through trades.

In January, the Atlanta Hawks traded Young to the Wizards for guard CJ McCollum and forward Corey Kispert. Then, near the NBA trade deadline, the Dallas Mavericks sent Davis to the Wizards in a massive three-team trade that also included the Charlotte Hornets.

What does Green think about the Wizards’ new acquisitions?

On Tuesday, Green offered his thoughts during an episode of his own “The Draymond Green Show.”

“The Wizards have acquired Trae Young and AD largely for next season,” Green said. “I can’t foresee either one of those guys playing much at all. AD, if he’s coming back from the injury that he sustained, he’s still probably another three or four weeks away.

“You need to lose anyway,” Green said. “Washington owns their own draft pick this year. That pick could turn into (BYU’s) AJ Dybansta. That pick could turn into (Kansas’) Darryn Peterson. That pick can turn into a great young piece for your franchise. I think when I’m looking at this, a couple of things are going to have to happen.

“Washington is going to have to commit to AD long term,” Green continued. “Like, if you want to keep a player like Anthony Davis in Washington, who struggled to get free agents. You’re going to have to commit to AD long term, depending on who Washington drafts. I think the situation could change a bit for Trae Young.

“This team could look completely different next year,” Green said. “You’re talking about a team that’s at the bottom of the league right now. Completely different in a good way. Like, the possibilities are endless, but that is the sign of a good front office when you give yourself endless possibilities. And that’s what (Wizards general manager) Will Dawkins has done, coming over from OKC.”

The Wizards are currently 14-38 on the 2025-26 NBA season. Davis is averaging 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, and shooting 50.6% from the floor. It’s expected, though, that Davis will sit out the remainder of this season due to hand and groin injuries.

Young, who is dealing with knee and quadriceps injuries, will be re-evaluated for his availability for the rest of this season around the upcoming All-Star break. This season, Young is averaging 19.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game, and shooting 41.5% from the floor.
