Mid-Autumn weekend gives Beijing plenty of reasons to wander.

Markets are popping up in temple courtyards, beside the Grand Canal, inside creative parks, and around World Park, mixing food, live music, vintage, crafts, independent design, and the occasional wonderfully strange find.

402 Stalls to Dig Through

This is the market for people who can lose an afternoon over a strange ceramic cup, an old magazine, or a piece of jewelry they definitely did not plan to buy. NewBridge Handicraft & Creative Market returns with 402 stalls, spanning handmade objects, vintage finds, clothing, accessories, art, books, stationery, and collectible toys. The real draw is how far the vendors have traveled: 74% come from outside Beijing, while 39% are joining NewBridge for the first time. Set inside a converted 1980s industrial complex near 798, it is all about seeing what turns up.

A Very Different Mid-Autumn Reunion

More than 200 independent brands are heading to Beijing for one last Dawa Bazaar of 2026. This Mid-Autumn edition gathers vendors from over 60 cities across China, filling a 3,000-square-meter outdoor plaza with vintage finds, original clothing, jewelry, ceramics, illustrations, handmade objects, and plenty of oddities. Around 70% of the stallholders are traveling in from outside Beijing, giving the four-day market the vibe of a nationwide makers’ meetup under the autumn moon. Food stalls, interactive booths, live music, stamp collecting, and late-evening browsing keep the market going until 10pm. Pets and kids are welcome too.

The Grand Canal Gets a Global Soundtrack

For four days, Tongzhou’s Grand Canal gets a soundtrack from 13 countries. The 4th Beijing International Canal Arts Fest puts 14 international arts groups and 70 artists onstage for 22 performances spanning folk music, indie bands, dance, and cross-cultural collaborations. The lineup moves from Norway’s Maria Arredondo and FETNO (Romania) to Saltanat (Kazakhstan), THX (Thailand), MACSAT (Germany), and several Chinese acts. Between sets, more than 60 stalls cover food, crafts, intangible cultural heritage, collectibles, and games. Here, the canal itself becomes part of the evening: music onstage, a market beside the water, and plenty of room for an after-dark wander.

A Global Carb Crawl

Beijing World Park is hosting their very first Global Carb Festival, bringing breads, pastries, snacks, and comfort food from different corners of the map into the park: French croissants, German pretzels, Italian focaccia, American bagels and cinnamon rolls, Japanese shokupan, Southeast Asian curry breads, and old-school Beijing pastries among them. The setting adds to the joke nicely: wander past miniature global landmarks, then keep traveling by carb. After 5pm, the park’s evening lights come on, stretching the food crawl into the night.

Mid-Autumn Behind the Red Walls

From September 25–27, Dongyue Temple fills its historic courtyards with the Temple Fair, an Eastern lifestyle market built around craft, scent, music, and the simple pleasure of lingering. More than 30 live performances unfold beneath the old eaves, while stalls bring together handmade incense, jewelry, design objects, and other small-batch finds. Some visitors will browse the market. Others may catch one of more than 30 performances, sit beneath the old cypress trees, or spend an hour doing very little. Against the red walls and tiled roofs, the festival gives an ancient space a new rhythm for the Mid-Autumn weekend.

On September 25, five paintings by ink artist Yushan leave the page and spread across a newly opened street in Songzhuang. LONG Street turns them into eight immersive scenes, with lanterns, installations, and performances woven through the outdoor space. The opening program runs for 13 days, packing in 25 types of performances and nearly 200 shows, while the Wishing Lantern Night Banquet brings together more than 60 drink brands for an evening market. Visitors can also wander through 93 shops, with an entire street built for lingering from daylight into lantern-lit night.
