Production company Bandai Namco Filmworks opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Natsu Hyuuga and Modomu Akagawara‘s Kamisama Gakkou no Ochikobore (The Failure at God School) manga on Friday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).
Hyuuga and Akagawara began serializing the fantasy shoujo manga in Hana to Yume magazine in August 2021. Hakusensha published the 14th volume on May 20, with the 15th volume scheduled for a September 18 release. The manga has a cumulative 1.7 million copies of its volumes in circulation.
A light novel version by Hyuuga, also featuring illustrations by Akagawara, began publication under Kodansha’s Seikaisha Fictions imprint in January 2022 with a diverging storyline. The fifth volume was released in May 2025.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English in August 2024. The third volume went on sale on February 24, with the fourth volume scheduled for release on September 22.
Synopsis
Modern life means modern solutions—even to supernatural problems. So of course the government would have a classification system, special schools, and licenses for people with mysterious powers. Any manifestation of a miracle is enough to be called a Himiko, but only those with full certification may use the title of god. And high schooler Nagi is in serious need of a god!
