Kirk Franklin is entering a new chapter in his career, as the gospel legend has entered a partnership with Uptown Records.
Announced on Tuesday (Sept. 8), Franklin’s partnership with Uptown Records is in conjunction with the Grammy Award-winning musician’s Fo Yo Soul Entertainment label and TRIBL Music Group.
According to Franklin, joining forces with Uptown Records has been a positive experience, as the 56-year-old expressed his gratitude for the label welcoming him with open arms. “To be a part of the Uptown family is a genuine honor,” Franklin said in a press release.
“I feel energized by the entire team’s enthusiasm and support already. It’s a blessing, and I’m beyond thankful and excited for what the future holds. Let’s make history together!”

Natina Nimene, Uptown Executive/EVP Urban Audience & Artist Relations REPUBLIC Collective, also commented on the partnership, noting Franklin’s prolific track record and sustained relevance.
“No one has shaped gospel and sustained its influence from one decade to the next quite like Kirk Franklin,” Nimene added. “His impact is transformational, and we are honored that he has entrusted Uptown as his partner for this next chapter and the incredible body of work he has planned.”

In celebration of the partnership, Franklin released the music video for “Thank You For Everything,” his single featuring gospel legend Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters. The video was premiered live on BET Her.
Uptown Records’ venture with Franklin marks the label’s latest landmark signing following its revival amid its 40th anniversary. Founded in 1986 by late music executive Andre Harrell, Uptown Records became one of the most pivotal record labels of the late ’80s and ‘early ’90s, with stars like Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D, and Christopher Williams bringing the label to prominence.
In addition to Franklin, the current Uptown Records roster includes Yung Miami, G Herbo, Trap Dickey, ATL Jacob, and 9B Meechie.
