Daniel Cormier has said that Jon Jones turned down a massive amount of money for the pair to compete one last time.

The legendary two-weight world champions had two of the biggest fights in UFC history, with Jones winning both convincingly. It is often forgotten that their second meeting – which the New Yorker won by KO – was overturned to a No Contest due to a failed drug test.

Daniel Cormier reveals how Jon Jones turned down seven-figure match

In a recent fan Q&A, Daniel Cormier revealed that RAF Wrestling were unable to fund a trilogy match between him and Jon Jones. However, he did negotiate with another unnamed outfit who were able to pay big money, which he says his rival turned down.

“He will not do it,” Cormier insisted. “I’m telling you guys he will not do it, I’m not lying. I went through the negotiations and I said ‘if he wrestles me I’ll do it, but it’s going to be 10-0, I’m going to tech [fall] him’.

“Unfortunately he knows it’s going to be 10-0 so he won’t do it and I said ‘well how about we do a grappling match?’ He said ‘no, only submissions’ and I said ‘why don’t we do points where we win? I don’t want to be tied at the end’.

“He won’t do it, only submissions. So he won’t compete with me in anything he thinks there’s a chance he will lose in. Give up on the Jon Jones thing, he’s not going to do it.”
