RuneScape developer Jagex has announced it will be launching RuneScape: Dragonwilds in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region later this year.

Described as the company’s “most significant international expansion” to date, the launch will include localisation in Simplified Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

“APAC is the centre of gravity for the global gaming population, and these are among the most discerning and passionate player communities in the world,” said Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy.

“Launching in their native languages is not just a translation exercise, it is a statement of our commitment to building RuneScape into a truly global franchise, designed to thrive for the next 25 years.”

He continued: “Our ambition is for Jagex to become a multi-product, community-powered franchise with a truly global outlook. APAC represents the natural next step in that journey. The survival crafting genre resonates strongly in these regions, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds, with its distinctive combination of deep skilling systems, cooperative play and rich world-building, offers a RuneScape experience in a familiar format to players in these markets.”

RuneScape: Dragonwilds entered early access on Steam in April 2025. In September, the game expanded to Latin America with localisation in Portuguese and Spanish.

Earlier this year we spoke with Jagex SVP James Dobrowski about the company’s expectations for 2026, which he described as its biggest, most ambitious, and most challenging year on record.

“We spent a lot of time early last year looking at what we were doing, asking ourselves if they’re the right things, and making a lot of changes in terms of company strategy, and how that pertains to individual product and project strategies.”
