8 individuals have been arrested during two separate law enforcement actions that represent local police departments’ recent efforts to clampdown on illegal gambling.
In Morong, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (RPPO) arrested 7 suspects on T. Claudio Street in Barangay Maybancal. The operation, which occurred at around 7:40 p.m., targeted individuals accused of operating a type of illegal numbers game referred to as “bookies.”
Law enforcement recovered ₱3,415.00 worth of cash, along with various tools associated with gambling, such as calculators, notebooks and betting slips.
In Teresa, police responded to a report of suspected illegal gambling activity being conducted under a residence located in Dulumbayan. Upon arrival shortly after 6:00 p.m., officers arrested one suspect, identified only as Jose. Jose was allegedly involved with illegal numbers betting.
The following items were recovered during this operation: betting stubs, receipts and a small amount of cash.
All 8 suspects arrested from the two operations are presently in custody pending the filing of charges under Presidential Decree No. 1602, as amended by Republic Act No. 9287.
Rizal police officials commended the agencies involved in the two joint operations, and reiterated that they will continue to work jointly to target and eliminate illegal gambling activity through enforcement and public cooperation.
