George Russell has given himself a chance to hit back in the 2026 Formula 1 title fight after taking pole for Sunday’s Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. He ended Kimi Antonelli’s five-race pole streak, with Lewis Hamilton splitting the Mercedes drivers on the front row.

Sunday is expected to be hot and dry, with temperatures around 27°C, so tyre life could be a major factor after a difficult practice and qualifying day for several teams. Antonelli starts third as he chases a sixth straight win, while Russell has his best chance yet to cut into the championship gap.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of Sunday’s running at the F1 Barcelona-Catalunya GP.
