Conor McGregor is set to return to the octagon next month after five years on the sidelines – but Usman Nurmagomedov reckons fans will have to wait a bit longer.
The Irishman was once an active champion competing across three weight classes in four fights over 11 months. However, that was a decade ago and in recent years he has become better known for his antics outside of the cage than his wins inside of it.
How high would Conor McGregor beating Max Holloway at UFC 329 rank among the best returns?

He is scheduled to fight Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329, with tickets selling for a minimum of over $600 and highs in the tens of thousands. However, many feel that they will believe he is coming back when they see it.
Usman Nurmagomedov believes Conor McGregor won’t show up at UFC 329
One of the most famous rivalries in MMA history has been raging on even after Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in 2018. There have been multiple Ireland vs Dagestan fights after the fact, most notably in PFL between Paul Hughes and Usman Nurmagomedov.
And the latter believes that McGregor’s return, while potentially good for the sport, won’t happen at all. “First of all I don’t believe he’s going to come and fight,” Nurmagomedov told Home of Fight in a recent interview.
“Second, if he will I don’t think he’s going to win because five years staying away from this sport is too much. It’s very long. But if he does beat him, it will be good for MMA, more fans will come back to the sport.”
