Are you a Prime member yet?
If there’s one thing you need to do to take full advantage of any major Amazon sale is to become a Prime member. While I think many Aussies already are, some of you might still be wondering what it means to be a Prime member, what you’re actually paying for and if shelling out a monthly or annual sum is actually worth it.
In short, if you’re a regular Amazon shopper, I think it’s worth signing up for it. Your AU$9.99 monthly fee (or AU$79 annually) gets you free and expedited shipping on thousands of eligible products without needing to fulfil a minimum spend.
That fee also gets you free access to Prime Video (which does have some excellent shows and movies), along with Prime Reading and Prime Gaming. Just the first one more than makes up for the investment you’re making, in my opinion. As a Prime member, you also now get two years of free DoorDash deliveries, although this offer ends November 14, 2026.
While there are generally no Prime-exclusive deals right now, there are occasional coupons or lightning deals that won’t explicitly say it’s for Prime members, but will only appear if you’re signed in with a paid account. You can find out more about the subscription service in my dedicated guide to what is Amazon Prime in Australia.
It’s also worth noting that if you’ve never tried this service before, signing up now will get you a 30-day free trial that more than covers the sale. If you don’t want to pay at all, you can cancel as soon as the sale finishes. Keep in mind that if you use the same email later to sign up again, you will not get that free trial later even if you didn’t use all 30 days.
If you’re interested in getting your delivery from Amazon expedited this sale season, you can hit one of the buttons below to sign up.
Budget ‘buds prove a big hit
We always aim to give as many products a TechRadar seal of approval as we can, but we can’t review everything. In such instances, we can confidently rely on feedback from real customers, especially when there are over 100K reviews of a product, as is the case with these budget-friendly Anker Soundcore P20i earbuds.
While we’ve not reviewed this exact model, we have had experience with Soundcore headphones and have found them to perform incredibly well for the price – just see our Anker Soundcore Space One Pro as an example.
The general consensus of the P20i earbuds is that they perform well above what their price tag would suggest. Customers deem them to be comfortable to wear for long periods, incredibly easy to use (it’s also recommended you download the companion smartphone app for tweaking the sound profile) and they sound great.
There appears to be agreement that they’re not going to sound as good as pairs that cost two, three or four times as much, but that should be expected at this price. Multiple reviews of these earbuds say that for the price, you really can’t go wrong — perhaps it’s no wonder they’re one of the bestselling products on right now.

This boom is mega at 35% off
I’m a sucker for good Bluetooth speaker and the Ultimate Ears range, particularly the Megaboom, has always been among my favourites.
I’m a little partial to the tiny Wonderbooms, but big sound comes from the Megaboom and if you want to keep the party rocking, the fourth generation model has a decent discount going right now. Only the pink colour model is back down to the lowest price we’ve previously seen — AU$228 — but there are a few others that are discounted rather well.

Add smarts to your home for under AU$50
Smart plugs are an easy and affordable way to set up a connected home without having to buy any additional smart-home gizmos. They’re affordable and they work a charm.
Take the Meross Matter Mini smart plugs — where a two-pack can be had for just AU$39.99 on Amazon right now. Just plug one into a power socket at home, set it up via the companion app, plug in a fan or a lamp or you kettle and, voila, you can schedule them to turn on or off, get them started, and best of all, you add voice commands to control them too.
Meross also allows you to monitor your energy consumption, which means you can potentially reduce your use and save on power bills in the long run. And all for under AU$40.
Now, Matter connectivity is necessary only if you wish to set up a much wider smart home, with plenty of other connected devices. Meaning, you are futureproofing your home. But if you don’t think you’ll be setting up a fully connected home at some point, you can get a four-pack of the Meross smart plugs without Matter support for under AU$50.

The best Kindle deal right now
I review ereaders for a living and while I wouldn’t recommend a colour ereader to most readers, those who read more comics or graphic novels would actually put it to good use. If you’re one of them, the Kindle Colorsoft is cheaper than what it was during Black Friday and Boxing Day last year, and cheaper than March’s Big Smile Sale — it was AU$309 for all of them.
It briefly dropped to AU$294 in December, then was AU$299 for a short while in May, and it’s back to the latter price. So while not an all-time low, it’s still an excellent price for the Kindle Colorsoft’s 16GB model.
The best thing about the Colorsoft is that it’s the only colour ereader I’ve seen that has a separate Vivid mode that enhances the colours displayed and, unlike other E Ink Kaleido 3 devices like the Kobo Libra Colour and Boox Go Color 7 Gen II, you get what it promises – slightly more saturated hues. Again, keep in mind this is an E Ink display, so don’t expect it to match an iPad or your phone, but it sure displays nice colours, which is great for comic fans.

It’s sale season! What a time to be shopping! Not only are the EOFY 2026 sales going on at nearly every other Aussie retailer, but Amazon has kicked off its annual Mid-Year Sale to coincide and make your tax-time purchases even easier.
While you have a lot of choice right now when it comes to choosing the retailer you want to shop from, it’s hard to argue that Amazon typically has the best prices on a lot of products. Sure, its tech catalogue is limited in comparison but, for what it does have, it’s arguably the best place to shop.
Importantly, if you happen to be a Prime member, you can get your purchase either on the same day, the next day or within a few days, depending on where you live. You don’t need to have a subscription to shop this sale, though, so you can shop till you drop. And if you happen to purchase a tech item that you’ll use for work, your total savings will increase because it’ll be tax deductible too. So make sure you know how to find your Amazon invoices.
