Deciding on a region to visit in Italy is like choosing from a menu where everything sounds delicious. Order the branzino or the handmade tagliatelle; it’s all good. If you want a glamorous, coastal stay, book it to Amalfi. Craving rolling hills, olive groves, and a glass of Chianti at dusk? Try Tuscany. But, for those looking for something a bit more low-key with the languorous pace of the south, there’s always Puglia.

Tucked into Italy’s heel, this region offers sun-bleached rows of whitewashed trulli, delightful handmade ceramics, and sparkling turquoise waters. It has generated a cult-like following among design enthusiasts for its ease, architectural beauty, and uncontrived essence. If you’re planning a trip to Italy and want a stay somewhere that feels like you’ve stepped into a European postcard, put Puglia on your route and indulge in a slower pace of life.

Vogue’s Favorite Airbnbs in Puglia:

  • For the Group That Wants to Go All Out: Masseria Villa Gioia, from $2,700 a night
  • For Design Minimalists: Luxury Trullo, Italy, from $324 a night
  • For Couples Seeking a Relaxed Stay: Dimora Casanoja, Italy, from $361 a night
  • For a Luxurious, Modern Vibe: Amuree Luxury Villa, from $984 a night
  • For the Architecture Alone: Lumen Trullo, from $918 a night

Ahead, we’re rounding up some of our favorite Puglia Airbnbs to help with your stay, from restored trulli and countryside masserie to modern villas tucked among olive groves.

This restored trullo keeps its original conical stone architecture and adds every creature comfort you could imagine. It has three bedrooms (each with its own en-suite bathroom), a pool, and terraces with panoramic views for days. The outdoor kitchen pulls its weight too: a spacious stone island, barbecue grill, and a wood-fired pizza oven are all made for gathering and unwinding in the evenings. The kitchen feels very authentically Apulian with charming tile, rustic furnishings, and a neutral-driven color palette. When you do decide to venture out, the neighboring towns are all within easy reach—as are the beaches of the Adriatic.

Rooms: 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

Amenities: Pool, outdoor kitchen, pizza oven, BBQ, Wi-Fi, satellite TV

Never have we added a property to our travel wishlist faster. This recently renovated trullo set in the heart of the Itria Valley reads both modern and strikingly old-world. The interiors are a great example of this: think, a sleek, arched kitchen punctuated by rustic earthenware, a bathroom lined with terracotta subway tiles that uses an old stone sink as its centerpiece, a minimalist all-white bedroom set atop original floors. The two-unit property shares a luxurious and spacious patio, that includes an outdoor kitchen with a wood-burning oven and a small private pool. Guests can pick from a private vegetable garden and orchard, and Ostuni and Alberobello are both a quick drive away.

Rooms: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms

Amenities: Private pool, outdoor kitchen, wood-burning oven, BBQ, vegetable garden, orchard, sun deck, outdoor shower, air conditioning, WiFi

This Puglian countryside escape is perfect for couples: Set on four acres of olive groves and oak trees, this dreamy one-bedroom farmhouse stays true to the style of the region with whitewashed interiors and stone accents. The property is located in the heart of Apulia, in Noci, and has standout design elements like a stone swimming pool, an outdoor kitchen, a time-worn fireplace, and a lush agricultural landscape. You’ll find lots of thoughtful art and objects peppered throughout the house, and while there are other villas on the grounds, the large private gardens and ample space between them make them feel secluded and quiet.

Rooms: 1 bedroom, 1 bath

Amenities: Pool, garden space, WiFi, dedicated workspace, free parking

This spacious villa is the kind of place that makes a case for traveling with a group. Set on almost 10 acres of countryside (complete with olive groves, an orchard, and centuries-old trees) Villa Gioia sleeps up to 21 across three floors of frescoed ceilings, grand living rooms, and bedrooms with en-suites. (Celebrating a milestone? It has an expansive pool and an orange grove that doubles as an event space.)

The ground floor sets the tone with an impressive entrance hall, a banquet room with a fireplace, and a large kitchen opening onto a veranda with a dining table for 20. Located between Castel del Monte, Trani, and Alberobello, it’s a home base as much as it is a destination in and of itself.

Rooms: 9 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms

Amenities: Private pool, outdoor kitchen, wood-burning pizza oven, BBQ, veranda dining, frescoed interiors, smart TV, orange grove, olive grove, WiFi

Location: Corato

This is one of those properties that feels like a time capsule in the best way. Step inside the home’s domed walls to discover charm and coziness around every turn, from an alcove sofa to a wood-burning fireplace. (Plus, it houses a separate guesthouse with its own outdoor shower for added privacy.) Outdoors, you’ll find a pool (that can be heated upon request) with an outdoor kitchen, a dining table under an olive tree, and a rooftop terrace that gives you sweeping countryside sunset views. The owners sourced each piece of furniture from local markets, adding to the three-bedroom’s authenticity.

Rooms: 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

Amenities: Private heated pool, outdoor kitchen, BBQ, wood-burning fireplace, rooftop terrace, outdoor shower, pergola, WiFi

Designed by Milan-based Opus Atelier, this expansive property—which includes both a trullo and a separate guesthouse—pairs traditional architecture with a minimalist, modern interior of whitewashed walls, natural linen bed coverings, and raw wood stools. It’s the kind of restraint that lets the bones of the building do the talking. The home has a pool, and its outdoor kitchen is accessorized with chairs and hammocks for lounging. The hosts also offer personalized culinary experiences upon request (ranging from a seasonal aperitivo to locally sourced dinners) which make this rental feel less like a rental and more like a luxury accommodation.

Rooms: 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

Amenities: Pool, solarium, outdoor kitchen, food experiences on request

Location: Ostuni

Amuree Luxury Villa

For a more modern rental just outside Ostuni, choose this design-forward villa. The home features three independent suites (each with private outdoor spaces), an infinity pool with sea views, and the kind of amenities that feel hotel-worthy—inquire about hiring a private chef or yoga instructor for a fee.

The home is spacious and sleek, with the indoor-outdoor flow starring as the main attraction. Large sliding glass doors connect the living area to the garden, the outdoor kitchen is anchored by a wood-fired BBQ and stone table, and the shaded pergola is clearly designed with long lunches in mind. Of note: This home requires a week-long stay; plenty of time to justify never leaving the grounds.

Rooms: 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms

Amenities: Infinity pool, outdoor kitchen, BBQ, pergola, organic garden, concierge, private chef on request

This expansive trullo sits among ancient olive trees and offers the kind of secluded quiet that makes it easy to lose track of the days. Inside, it has two bedrooms and three bathrooms that reflect the terracotta and whitewashed tones typically found in Puglia. Venture outside to take advantage of a saltwater pool that overlooks the countryside, an outdoor kitchen, and both a shaded pergola and small lounge area that make it easy to stretch out meal times. OOO is the operating mode here.

Rooms: 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

Amenities: Saltwater pool, outdoor kitchen, BBQ, pergola, heated outdoor shower, WiFi, air conditioning

Location: Ostuni

Lumen Trullo

The first thing you notice here is the tiered whitewashed facade: sculptural but not showy, allowing the architecture to truly shine. But peek inside, and you’ll find a beautifully restored trullo with modern touches throughout, including deep soaking tubs and a fully equipped kitchen. The travertine pool terrace features landscaping that leans into the dry Mediterranean palette, while a sturdy, standalone arched pergola gives every outdoor meal the royal treatment.

Rooms: 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

Amenities: Pool, stone shower, garden, fully equipped kitchen

Location: Itria Valley

Terra Quieta

This original four-cone trullo has been fully restored, using local stone to stay true to the materials of the area (other features, like arched ceilings, also help). The villa sleeps nine, with a large swimming pool that sits so naturally in the garden that it looks like an extension of the house. Other amenities, like cooking classes, private dinners, sailing excursions, and yoga, can be requested as add-ons if you want to make your group trip extra special; though the olive grove views and perfectly executed blend of old school charm and contemporary decor do a fine enough job on their own.

Rooms: 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

Amenities: Pool, outdoor kitchen, BBQ, dining terrace, WiFi, air conditioning, private parking

Location: Ostuni
