The official website for the Yuusha-kei ni Shosu: Choubatsu Yuusha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku (Sentenced to Be a Hero) television anime revealed a supporting pair of cast ahead of episode 7 on Friday. The anime series adapting Rocket Shoukai‘s action fantasy light novel premiered on Tokyo MX on January 3.
Voice actors Yuu Sugimoto (The Fable) and Shinichiro Miki (Bleach) are joining the cast as Shiji Bau and Buujamu, respectively.
Hiroyuki Takashima (Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu episode director) is helming the anime at Studio KAI. Yoshitake Nakakouji (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu animation director) as assistant director. Kenta Ihara (Youjo Senki) is handling the series composition and script, while Takeru Noda (Ousama Ranking animation director) is designing the characters and Shunsuke Takizawa (Hataage! Kemono Michi) is composing the music.
Shoukai began penning the novel on the Kakuyomu website in October 2020. Kadokawa began publishing the novel under its Dengeki no Shinbungei imprint with illustrations by Mephisto in September 2021 and published the eighth volume on January 17.
Natsumi Inoue began drawing a manga adaptation on Dengeki Comic Regulus web magazine in March 2022. Kadokawa published the second volume in April 2024.
Yen Press licensed the light novel for English release in August 2023 and published the fifth volume in December 2025.
Kadokawa publishes the manga adaptation in English on the BookWalker website.
