After months of calls from fans and experts, Gable Steveson has finally been signed to the UFC.

Last September, the Olympic gold medalist made his debut in MMA after making the transition from wrestling, where he had an incredibly storied career.

Since then, the 25-year-old has gone on to score three emphatic knockout wins, despite having not been training striking for very long.

But under the tutelage of former UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, Gable Steveson has made himself undeniable and he has now officially signed to the premier MMA promotion.

Is Gable Steveson destined for greatness in MMA, like Jon Jones is predicting? 🤼

Gable Steveson set to make UFC debut on International Fight Week

Not too long ago, Steveson announced that he had signed a contract with Real American Freestyle Wrestling, which worried fans that he may not be pursuing MMA as hard as he had been.

Despite that, during the UFC 327 broadcast on Saturday, it was announced that Steveson has officially signed with the UFC and he will make his long-awaited debut in the promotion on International Fight Week.

The UFC 329 card will take place on July 11, and Conor McGregor is currently being targeted to make his comeback on the 14th annual International Fight Week.

At this point, Steveson doesn’t have an opponent, however, it is likely that he will fight close to the rankings.

“Heavyweight got interesting tonight,” Joe Rogan said during the broadcast.

“With Gable coming to the UFC, that is absolutely huge, that guy is my number one prospect in the heavyweight division, he is a tremendous athlete, moves like a cat, that guy is the man, I’m very excited to see him in the UFC.”

Following one of Steveson’s wins, Rogan called Dana White and personally asked him to sign the prospect, but at the time, White likely wanted to see more from him.

And with Jones now seemingly officially retired from the sport, again, it leaves the door open for Steveson.
