World Cup 2022 highlights: Portugal defeats Switzerland, 6-1

The 2022 FIFA World Cup continued Tuesday on FOX, with Portugal defeating Switzerland 6-1 at Qatar’s Lusail Stadium in the tournament’s last match of the round of 16.

Portugal advances to play Morocco in the quarterfinals, which on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Major news broke before the match that Portugal icon and captain Cristiano Ronaldo would start the game on the bench. Gonçalo Ramos started in Ronaldo’s place.

Switzerland got on the board when defender Manuel Akanji knocked in a goal on the left side of the net.

The forward finessed in his third goal of the game, giving Portugal a 5-1 lead and marking the first hat trick of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
