The day of ascension is at hand!
- Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge debuts a new faction with the Genestealer Cults
- These alien-influenced zealots seek to bring about their own personal rapture
- Benefit from three new conditions and new cards to subvert and crush your opponents
Warhammer 40,000: Warpforge sees a new, pernicious threat emerge as the Genestealer Cults rise up for the day of ascension! Yes, it’s time for you to challenge those lousy space marines and chaos heretics with theĀ true god; a giant thing from space.
Genestealer Cults are, in brief, what they say on the tin. Corrupted and mutated humans who unknowingly serve the Tyranids to sow fear and destruction ahead of their master’s arrival. But with the Imperium being such an awful place to live, they’re not short on recruits.
And you too can prove just how wrong they are by leveraging three new traits alongside the new cards for this faction. Sabotage forces cards into your opponent’s hand that stratagems can exploit, forcing them to discard them or suffer. Ambushing troops can enter the game hidden, which allows them to still be targeted and attacked but will hide their various values. Finally, Uprising triggers effects when you play troops on the same turn as a card with the value.
Flavourful
I like the introduction of these new cards, as it feels like a great effort to make the Genestealer Cults feel like their faction descriptions. Flavour, you might say. It encourages you to undermine and sideline your opponent before overwhelming them with one major push. It all feels very devious and clever, which is what you want when you’re playing as a literal cult.
