“Let me say what an honour it is to work with two guys who are this far away from being Childless Cat Ladies.”
Whenever Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez get together for an interview or an awards show speech, there’s only one thing that’s going to happen: some gleeful roasting.
The Only Murders in the Building cast teamed up at the 76th Emmy Awards on Sunday to announce the winner of the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category (it was The Bear‘s Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and they kicked things off by trading insults.
Short tells Martin what an honour it is for him “to be working with someone who looks like he’s fallen and can’t get up,” while Martin responds that it’s an honour for him “to be working with someone who looks like a former women’s tennis champion.” Gomez comes in at this point to say that it’s an honour for her “to work with two guys who are this far away from being Childless Cat Ladies.”
The best bit? Martin’s appeal for a “group hug” at the end going completely ignored.
