Hiroyuki Takei’s Shaman King manga continues in Shaman King: The Super Star, and the latest arc is about to return to serialization in Japan. Its destination is Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket service, where it will resume its run on August 24, 2024.
The manga was previously running in Shonen Magazine Edge magazine, which ceased publication in October 2023. Magazine Pocket already has its previous chapters locked and loaded, so fans can catch up while they wait for the official return. As of December 2023, eight collected volumes have been published in Japan, and the English release is caught up as of June 4, 2024.
Kodansha USA publishes the manga digitally in English and describes it like so:
Shaman King: The Super Star Plot
Can’t get enough SHAMAN KING goodness? Then hitch a ride with Alumi, Death Zero and other SHAMAN KING favorites in this action-packed spinoff, SHAMAN KING: THE SUPER STAR!
Here’s how Kodansha describes the original Shaman King manga, which first brought Takei’s series to life back in 1998:
Shamans possess mysterious powers that allow them to commune with gods, spirits, and even the dead…and Manta Oyamada’s about to learn all about them, because his class just welcomed a new transfer student: Yoh Asakura, a boy from way off in Izumo…and a shaman in training!
Meanwhile, those looking to keep up with the anime adaptation of Shaman King will want to hit up Netflix, which launched the followup series Shaman King Flowers around the world on April 21, 2024.
