Another one bites the, er, apple
- The Pinball Wizard is bouncing off Apple Arcade and landing squarely on the App Store
- Get it now, totally for free, or tip the dev if you’re feeling generous
- Ascend the floors of the tower, shooting your brave mage around to despatch enemies and get treasure
Apple Arcade has once more shed a fantastic game, but thankfully it’s also seen this title pop up on the iOS App Store proper. This means all of you who missed out on the fantastic roguelite pinball game The Pinball Wizard can now get the chance to see what bumper (geddit?) fun you’ve been missing out on.
As you may’ve guessed, The Pinball Wizard features the titular mage being shot around the ascending floors of a tower, smacking into barrels, enemies and off of walls. As an apprentice mage, your key to your well-earned power awaits at the top of the Tower of Shadows. You just have to get there alive to claim it.
The Pinball Wizard comes packaged with some seriously beefy content for a free game. There’s Tower mode where you ascend the tower through 21 unique levels, Dungeon mode, where you must survive unique dungeons for as long as you can, and finally Daily Dungeon, for all those frequent players out there.
Free for all
Apple Arcade has been somewhat of a mixed blessing, as I’ve seen just as many games come off it as they have landed in its catalogue. However, at the very least I’m pleased to see these games eventually make their way to the app store proper, meaning those not willing to sign up for an Apple Arcade subscription still get to play some amazing handheld titles.
Now if only they’d come to Android.
But, grouching aside, want to see what other great games are available? Well, you could do a lot worse than digging into our list of the best mobile games of 2024 (so far) to get yourself started!
Better yet, why not check out some of our reviews? Spooky Pixel Hero is one side-scrolling meta-horror game that has really got our goosebumps tingling.
