A high-motored defensive tackle for the Corcoran football team who led the team with 95 tackles and 11 tackles for loss is dead. Lorenso Sanchez would’ve been a junior this fall.
Sanchez tragically lost his life at 5:30 p.m. on April 26 after being stabbed outside Kohl’s at the Hanford Mall. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Sanchez with a fatal stab wound to his neck. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have arrested a 15-year-old suspect, who has been booked into the Kings County Juvenile Center on suspicion of murder. In the wake of this heartbreaking incident, family and friends of Sanchez came together in Corcoran on Sunday for a vigil to honor his memory.
Corcoran Superintendent Andre Pecina called the death of Sanchez a “tragic loss for our community.” “It sends a ripple effect throughout the entire Corcoran community, which is family oriented,” Pecina said. “Our priority is to make sure we have support services for the students on (Monday) and throughout the week.”
Please keep the Sanchez family in your prayers during this tough time.
